Natural Living 4 U - Dowsing
Dowsing was practiced as far back as 4,000 years B.C. In ancient cultures Egyptians, Hebrews, and Chinese would use dowsers (called Geomancer at that time) to heal the sick in body and soul, find the best location for their homes, or to help with other life decisions.
Webster states that “Dowsing is to search for a source of water or minerals with a divining rod. A divining rod is a forked branch believed useful in discovering water, minerals, etc. hidden underground. A Dowser is one who uses a diving rod.”
Today, L shaped copper or brass rods or pendulums are used. Please note that it is not wise to use rock quartz crystal as a pendulum because the quartz retains memory thus can mislead or give incorrect information. Some of the best pendulums are made of wood or metal. Some dowsers use their own body by leaning back or forward for the information. Various methods are practiced all over the world. The tools have no special powers, but it is thought that the dowser has sensitivity to the environment.
Dowsing is not openly accepted by scientific communities, yet in the Vietnam War, US Marines were taught to use dowsing to find weapons and tunnels. Today dowsing has been extended into radiesthesia or effective ways to approach not only environmental issues but also medical problems. This enables us to measure the state of health, but also the probability of successful treatments. Kirlian photography (which images electrical patterns) supports the validity of dowsing. Recognizing different levels of energy is well known, for example: Kinesiology (muscle testing) and Polarity are used today. Everything is created of energy and energy is vibration. If so, then everything has its own frequency, and its wavelength is measurable and detectable.
A good practioner must detach themselves from possible answers as the mind can influence the answer. Questions usually need to be in the form of a yes or no answer.
Dowsing is a deeply spiritual
technique allowing the inquirer to get precise answers to either tangible or
intangible questions. Effective dowsers search for the answers on all levels of
their beings—from the conscious level to deeply subconscious levels. Dowsing
should never be used as a fortune telling instrument.
